Architectural Studio
Assignment #1: 5 Design Element Project (Examples Above of models, sketches, and portfolio work)
Architecture students were presented with a challenge. How do we move people through a space? How does a person feel when they move through that particular space? Taking a 6"x6" piece of chipboard students had to pick a entry point and exit and figure out how to best move people through the space using all of the five elements. The elements included walls, columns, a level change, roof line, and light. Students developed three intial sketches that displayed all of the five elements using each, a minimum of two times. The second step was to draw the sketch in a floor plan and figure out various heights for each element. Once a final drawing was completed, students constructed a scaled 1/8" model which displayed the movement from entrance to exit.
