Students will gain an overview of American business today, including first-hand knowledge of entrepreneurship, information systems, finance, marketing, management, and legal careers. They will gain competencies in investment strategies, business processes and planning, communication, collaboration, resource management and leadership skills. In addition, students will visit sites such as The Chicago Board of Trade, Best Buy, the Circuit Court of Cook County, and a sports marketing site, meeting with a variety of professionals. Careers in Healthcare

Students will perform patient assessments, use medical laboratory and physical therapy techniques, and apply medical ethics in problem solving. They will travel to a variety of healthcare-related sites, such as Lutheran General Hospital, The College of Optometry, UIC Medical Center, and an animal emergency and critical care center, meeting with professionals in a wide variety of healthcare careers.

and Manufacturing

Students will have the opportunity to explore the related fields of engineering, electronics, and high-tech manufacturing. The course will include hands-on lab assignments, teaming and problem-solving exercises, as well as a number of visits to businesses such as Burhrke Industries, Precise Technologies, Fermilab, and Avon Products, where students will meet with a variety of industry professionals.
